I've managed generator and parts spend for a 140-person industrial maintenance company for six years. Our annual budget for power equipment, service, and filters is around $220,000. For a Premium Guard oil filter or a fuel filter 6.6 Duramax diesel, I want cross-reference, warranty, core charge, and return policy before I click buy. And when something fails, I want a technician who knows how to set multimeter to ohms before he knows how to write an invoice.
Bottom line
I do not care about the cheapest quote. I care about the final invoice. The supplier who lists all fees upfront—even if the total looks higher—usually costs less in the end, because I can plan, compare, and budget. That isn't charity. That's trust, and it's worth paying for. If a quote needs a decoder ring, it isn't a deal. It's a down payment on a problem.
